How conveyancing works for buyers

Understanding NSW property law is essential when purchasing property (especially for the first time). Having a conveyancer on your side will minimise risks and ensure that the purchase is legally compliant.

After signing the contract of sale, your conveyancer will start preparing for settlement. This involves a number of checks concerning the property condition and ownership, as well as coordinating with your financier to obtain loan approval.

On settlement day the conveyancer will finalise the transaction by arranging the release of funds to the seller in exchange for the property title, and register you as the owner of the property by making an application to NSW Land Registry Services (LRS).

Property sellers are responsible for providing buyers with a vendor statement (section 32) that outlines all relevant information about the property’s condition and title. Our Liverpool conveyancing team will prepare the vendor statement along with the sale contract before the property is listed for sale.
